Welcome to
our report of our 2001 trip to France. We travelled 2040 miles crossing
from Newhaven to Dieppe (homeward crossing was awful - late, slow and
rough). Fuel consumption for our petrol Trafic coachbuilt was 21mpg mostly
driving on N and D roads with a couple of 100 mile autoroute journeys
which were mostly free of lorries and trucks, far more pleasant than
motorways in the UK.
Our itinerary took us north of Paris to
Troyes, through
Bourgogne and
the Jura and across to the Alps south of Grenoble. Then we headed south
west to the Drôme Provençale and Mont Ventoux before retracing our route
to Annecy, then northwest through Bresse region to Yonne. We avoided Paris
by skirting to the west then north to Dieppe.
