Baume Les Messiers Abbey

Cascades de Herisson
Cascades de Herisson

Baume les Messieurs
A delightful village in the Cirque de Baume near Lons le Saunier. The old abbey has a charming ambience. At the entrance to the village is the grassy and shady campsite  alongside a small river. At the head of the valley there are caves that can be visited. It 's a steep climb on the road to the east out of the village. Once the main road is reached turn west and stop at the Cirque de Baume viewpoint.

The Cascades de Herisson are a pleasant series of waterfalls in the northern Jura. The path climbs past the falls and behind one of the higher ones. The going is fairly strenuous and allow at least 2 hours  for your visit. There is a parking and admission charge but motorhomes can park in the coach parking area (but as the sign above says "No parking with the camp-site bus the night").
